‘Innovation
in Architecture, Construction & Engineering’ is a book planned by
publisher Thomas Telford. Ground engineering and piling specialist Roger Bullivant
Ltd (RBL) – renowned for engineering innovation – was invited to
contribute a chapter; and commissioned Barrett, Byrd Associates to write 4,500
words on six of the company’s major developments.
The words were researched and written within a short space of time, approved by RBL and then submitted with appropriate illustrations, captions and diagram annotation to the academic charged with editing the book. Each development’s raison d’etre, technical evolution, testing regime, commercial viability and eventual success were recorded in a comprehensive yet readable manner.
